Requirement of materials with low induced radioactivity
- 1. National Research Inst. for Metals, Tsukuba, Ibaraki (Japan). Tsukuba Lab.
Description
C fiber/SiC composite by chemical vapor infiltration process was studied to develop the low activation materials. The composites were produced at 1173-1623K. The microstructure and the mechanical properties by bend test were examined. The uniform structure was obtained below 1473K. Bend test results indicated the apparent ductility which is characteristic of composite. The induced activity of the materials was evaluated by the calculation simulating the fusion neutron irradiation. C fiber/SiC showed the excellent low activation behavior. (author)
