Comment on 'The influence of grassland management on the radionuclide inventory of soils in West Cumbria, UK', by A.D. Horrill and S. Mudge; J. Environ. Radioact., v. 12, p. 143-167

A brief note criticizes the explanation given by the authors of a paper for the varying distributions of radionuclides in soils in West Cumbria, UK. They are criticized for using inappropriate values of the seaspray-enrichment factor which do not represent the best current understanding of sea-to-land transfer. The extent to which aerial emissions from Sellafield and weapons fallout modify the distributions of radionuclides in soils is briefly discussed. (UK)
