Description

Periodic safety reviews are complementary to the routine and special safety reviews. The idea has been widely accepted and some States have initiated periodic safety reviews (PSR). Recently some domestic nuclear power plants are preparing and promoting periodic safety reviews. The safety standards are very important to conducting PSR. This article discuss the topic of how to determine the safety standards. The technical characteristics of units and the unit life are main considered factors in determining the safety standards. The safety standards should cover the demands of current national nuclear safety related mandatory and the scientific reasonable design and construction code and standard should be selected. In practice, a reference unit can be selected and the experience feed-back information of nuclear safety major field should be used. (authors)
