Description
Marine sediment samples (0-30 cm in depth) were collected in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, and South Pacific Ocean during KH00-3 (BO, 7 samples) and KH04-5 (SX, 8 samples) cruise of R/V Hakuho-Maru. The 10Be concentration in the marine sediment samples range between 0.9x109 and 6.5x109 atoms/g, and most of the red clay sediment in the Northwest Pacific Ocean showed uniform distribution. The 9Be concentration in the red clay sediment samples range between 2.3 and 2.6 ppm, which showed a value almost the same as measured 9Be concentration (1.6-2.3 ppm) in the Chinese loess. The 10Be concentration in the marine sediment were 20 times higher than the 10Be concentration (0.2x109 atoms/g) in the Chinese loess. These results were suggested that most of 10Be in the marine sediment were regarded seawater as the origin. (author)
