Change in the character of elastic scattering observed in the transition from light to heavy ions

Description
Variations in the characteristics of nucleus-nucleus elastic scattering were studied for ions with mass numbers in the range 4<A<12. Angular distributions were measured for the elastic scattering of 90-MeV 6Li from 12C; 60-, 75-, and 90-MeV 6Li from 28Si; and 27- and 40-MeV 9Be from 28Si. Data on the elastic scattering of 6Li, 7Li, and 9Be ions were analyzed by using the optical model with the elastic transfer mechanism included. The analysis shows that there is a sharp change in the character of scattering in the transition from 7Li to 9Be
