Description
Direct observation of lattice defects in solid helium-4 by SR X-ray is reported. A strong lattice distortion in a helium crystal caused by a pressure decrease in the sample cell in the course of the crystal growth was demonstrated. Recovery processes of the lattice distortion and the martensitic transformation from the hcp to the bcc structure were also observed. (author)
