In-core measuring system with multicomponent probe for power reactors

  • 1. Zentralinstitut fuer Kernforschung, Rossendorf bei Dresden (German Democratic Republic)

Description

An in-core measuring system based on a wire-shaped multicomponent probe has been developed for determining the neutron flux density and neutron spectrum in power reactors. The detector consists of a nickel base alloy containing gold, manganese, and tungsten. It has been composed in such a way that the neutron spectra in the thermal, epithermal, and fast energy ranges can be covered by carrying out only one gamma spectrometric measurement. The gamma spectra are recorded by means of a Li-drifted Ge spectrometer. Preliminary experience gained in using the multicomponent probe in WWER-440 type reactors is presented. (author)
