Energy sobriety, a key element of low-carbon strategies
Description
Energy sobriety is an approach that aims to reduce energy consumption through voluntary and organized changes in behavior, lifestyle and collective organization. Energy efficiency means first of all asking ourselves what our needs are, and then adapting our uses to those needs. It is the first pillar of the energy transition, before energy efficiency and the development of renewable energies. Sobriety is a means to an end, not an end in itself. It enables us to reduce our consumption of energy and resources by changing our behavior, not by buying more efficient equipment. It is based on choices and is not frugality or precariousness: it implies reducing the impact of consumption
