Gamma-radiation astronomy
Description
Gamma radiation astronomy only developed after specialized satellites had been put into outer space. The results are surveyed which were obtained by satellite COS-B. 25 discrete sources were detected but only 5 cosmic objects of different type were identified. The mechanism of the origins of gamma radiation has mostly not been clarified. Further progress may be expected only after observations sent down by further satellites are processed. (Ha)
