Description

K2Ce(PO4)2 has a unique open tunnel like structure and these tunnels are occupied by K+ ions. The loosely bound K+ ions in the structure are amenable to exchange with Sr+ due to it's comparable size. To find out the optimum condition systematic ion exchange studies of sample have been carried out by varying pH, time and amounts using 85Sr (γ-emitter) tracer solution. The compound shows appreciably high distribution constant (Kd Sr ∼8000 mL/g) and follow pseudo second order kinetic mechanism. (author)
