Glass formation in the BaO-La2O3-B2O3 system

Description

A study of BaO · B2O3-La2O3 · B2O3 and 3BaO · B2O3-La2O3 · 3B2O3 cross-sections is performed to determine a vitrification field in ternary system of BaO-La2O3-B2O3. The existence of a ternary compound of 3BaO · La2O3 · 2B2O3 is supported and boundaries of a vitrification field in the system of BaO-La2O3-B2O3 are determined more properly. A scheme of the system triangulation is proposed, and specimen compositions complying with five ternary nonvariant eutectic points are shown tentatively

Abstract (Russian)

Для определения области стеклообразования в тройной системе BaO-La2O3-B2O3 предпринято исследование сечений BaO · B2O3-La2O3 · B2O3 и 3BaO · B2O3-La2O3 · 3B2O3. Подтверждено существование тройного соединения 3BaO · La2O3 · 2B2O3 и уточнены границы области стеклообразования в системе BaO-La2O3-B2O3. Предложена схема триангуляции исследуемой системы и ориентировочно показаны составы образцов, отвечающих пяти тройным нонвариантным эвтектическим точкам
