Description

Kalpakkam Reprocessing plant is designed to process 220 MW PHWR spent fuel and to extract Uranium and Plutonium as products in oxide forms after purification. During the operation of the plant, different forms of the radioactive wastes are produced. Radioactive gaseous waste is properly treated to contain the radioactive particulates within the system to ensure that discharges through stack to environment are within the prescribed limits. Deep bed filters (DBF) are used for treating the off gas streams to trap the radioactive particulates
