Description
The subject matter on Tokamak diagnostics covers a very wide field. There are numerous possible approaches to measure equally numerous quantities or plasma parameters. Some recent reviews describe the field adequately while also referring to older and well standardized methods. We do not try to cover the entire field but will rather concentrate on only a few diagnostic systems which we are planning to use on Tokoloshe. Even covering these systems in detail represents an impossible task in the scope of one paper. Techniques are briefly outlined giving some typical results and discussing the problem areas. More details regarding aspects of signal processing can be found in the paper on Tokamak control and data acquisition in this same series
