Deterioration of engineered barriers applied for radioactive waste repositories

  • 1. Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares (IPEN), Sao Paulo, SP (Brazil)

Description

The action of sulphate on cement, a material used as an engineers barriers for rad waste repository, was investigated in a laboratory experiment. Results show that the absorbed sulphate was higher in samples immersed in diluted solutions, inducing possible damages in the structure. (B.C.A.). 04 refs, 04 tabs
