Homogeneous yield and shape recovery in metallic glasses as a result of nonreversible directional structural relaxation

Description
Investigation results on stress relaxation and shape recovery on linear heating of Fe, Ni, Co base (Co87Nb5Zr8, Ni60Nb40, Fe81B14Si5) metallic glasses are presented. Stress relaxation is shown to be defined by the temperature of preliminary annealing. Intense shape recovery begins also in the vicinity of the temperature of preliminary homogeneous deformation. Calculation technique is proposed for description of stress relaxation kinetics. Calculated values of temperatures of stress relaxation beginning and shape recovery agree well with experimental ones. 32 refs.; 7 figs
