Description

An earlier proposed method based on extraction data was used to calculate the dissociation constants of HGaCl4, HInCl4 HTlCl4, HAuCl4, HGaBr4, HInBr4 in nitrobenzene and 2.2'-diclorodiethyl ether, as well as apparent extraction constants of complex acids (separately, as ions and ion pairs), corresponding to different haloid acid (HX) concentrations in the aqueous phase. The dissociation constants of the above acids in nitrobenzene and 2.2'-dichlorodiethyl ether remain unchanged as the acidity of the aqueous phase increases from 1 to 10 mol. The relationships between the apparent extraction constants and HX concentration in the aqueous phase were used as a basis for calculating the thermodynamic extraction constants. The extraction constants of ion pairs are by several orders of magnitude higher than those of individual ions. The thermodynamic extraction constants vary as follows: in the case of extraction by dichlorodiethyl ether - HGaCl4>=HInBr4>HAuCl4>=HTlCl4>>HInCl4; in the case of extraction by nitrobenzene - HGaCl4>HAuCl4>>HInCl4. Dichlorodiethyl ether extracts complex acids better than nitrobenzene
