Low energy electromagnetic and weak interactions and the Δ isobar

Creators

Description

Some features of the electromagnetic and weak interactions which show more or less the effects of the Δ isobar in nuclei are briefly described. Unique points of the Δ isobar are the strong spin isospin mode and the isospin 3/2 property. And it can contribute directly to the ΔT = ΔT sub(z) = 2 mode such as the double β decay and the double charge exchange of the pion scattering. These require at least two step process for the isospin 1/2 nucleon. Based on the author's recent study, brief comments are given on the spin isospin mode β - γ transitions and the neutrino-less double beta decay. (Aoki, K.)
