Searching for evidence of strings in cosmology

Description

We discuss some of the most exciting developments that have recently emerged in cosmology, arising from string and M-theory models. A particular example of inflation arising out of branes will be given to emphasise the potential new features these solutions have. Finally we discuss models of Quintessence, scalar field models used to explain the exciting results that the Universe is undergoing a period of acceleration today
