Determination of the yield of a ferrous sulphate dosemeter in a 35 MeV electron beam

Description
The radiation chemical yield G(Fe3-) of the Fricke ferrous sulphate dosemeter has been measured in a 35 MeV initial energy electron beam. The reference absorbed dose in a graphite phantom was measured at the depth of the dose maximum using a graphite calorimeter. The Fricke solution was placed in graphite capsules with an internal polystyrene coating ensuring the secondary electron equilibrium in the solution. The value of G(Fe3+) thus obtained, for a solution without sodium chloride, is: G(Fe3+) = (1.627 +-0.017)μmolJ-1. (author)
