Moessbauer study of N+-ion implanted high alloyed steel

Description
Nitrogen implantation was performed on a high alloyed martensite steel (4.5% Cr, 6.8% W, 5.1% Mo, 1.9% V). Conversion electron Moessbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) was used to determine the changes in phase composition due to implantation. The main difference between the CEMS spectra of nonimplanted and implanted samples was the increase of the paramagnetic lines belonging to austenite. Some nitride phases were also found in the implanted steel. The analysis of the hyperfine field distribution of ferromagnetic parts of the spectrum showed that ion implantation leads to a decrease of alloying of martensite. (author)
