Federal government completes funding for Sudbury Neutrino Observatory

In January 1990 the Canadian government announced sufficient additional funding for construction of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory to begin. In this brief article, the Observatory is featured at a popular level, especially with regard to the indirect scientific benefits which it is expected to confer.
