Using the methods of thermal and X-ray phase analyses, IR spectroscopy and crystallooptics the properties of nine cerium sulfates: Ce2(SO4)3x8H2O; Ce2(SO4)3x4H2O (α and β); Ce2(SO4)3x2H2o (α and β); Ce2(SO4)3xH2O; Ce2(SO4)3x3H2SO4x5H2O; Ce2(SO4)3x3H2SO4x2H2O; Ce2(SO4)3x3H2O4 have been studied. Normal cerium sulfates are salts, stable to the effect of such solvents as alcohol, acetone, whereas acid ones - are easily destructed during washing, which hampers their separation in pure form. Crystallohydrates of normal cerium sulfates are stable in the air, and the acid ones decompose rapidly. Thermal decomposition of cerium sulfates takes place in several stages. Dehydration of normal salts is observed in the temperature range 90-280 deg C. Stepped removal of water testifies to different types of water molecules, included in the structure of crystallohydrates, and on complex character of dehydration processes. Removal of sulfate groups from normal cerium sulfates occurs at 700-1000 deg C
