Analysis on the thermogram of MINT electrical installation
- 1. Malaysian Inst. for Nuclear Technology Research MINT, Bangi (Malaysia). NDT Group
Description
Analysis on the thermogram by using Infrared thermography is a Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) technique for measuring the heat distribution on the surface of material or component. In the study, some of electrical installations at MINT such as circuit breakers, transformers, fuses and panels have been scanned by using Infrared camera, ThermaCam SC 2000. These thermograms will read a heat picture which reveals components that are overloaded or may become faulty. To perform the analysis, these thermograms are analyzed using ThermaCam Researcher 2002 software. The result of faulty components will exhibit detectable temperature increases over the ambient temperature profile. Once the problem has been detected, proper measures can then be applied for correction. (Author)
