Description

Like any nuclear operator, EDF carries out environmental impact studies as part of its regulatory filings or other requests for authorizations. Because these have evolved in recent years, particularly because of the application of new international recommendations (IAEA, ICRP), this article presents the use by an operator of the ERICA method (Environmental Risk for Ionizing Contaminants: Assessment and management), a method of evaluation of environmental risks that has been developed within the framework of a European project. Illustrated by examples and practical situations encountered at a national and international level, EDF proposes a review of the use of this method in real conditions. This feedback helped to highlight the tool's axes of improvement which were submitted to the consortium in charge of the ERICA development. (authors)
