The method of characteristic matrixes as used in radiation problems

Description

This work presents a development of the characteristic matrix method to use in the problems on charged particle bunch radiation in arbitrary cross-section regular waveguides filled with a laminated dielectric medium. This approach enables to reduce a set of 2N linear equations to two equations with two unknowns and present the expressions for fields and energy in a suitable analytical form. The questions concerning radiation field formation as well as synchronous interference of waves emitted by different bunches at different laminated medium harmonics are considered. 4 refs
