Complexes of Zinc, cadmium and mercury with some Schiff bases(research note)
Description
Two types of complexes with different stoichiometries were isolated for zinc (II), cadmium (II) and mercury (II). These complexes having the general formulae [M (H2 L)]X2 and [M(L)] (where H2 L and L represent the neutral and di basic from of the ligand derived from the condensation of benzo in with o-phenylene diamine and X2 C 1- or NO3-) were prepared by the reaction of the mentioned metal salts with the ligand in both neutral and alkaline solutions. Characterization of the complexes was carried out by analytical, spectral and physical studies. In type I complexes, the ligand coordinates through both anathematize nitrogen and alcoholic oxygen atoms acting as neutral tetra coordinated with the most probable tetrahedral geometry. 17 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs.(Author)
