Laser synthesis of size-regulated metal nanoparticles by utilizing liquid-liquid interface

  • 1. Osaka City University, Graduate School of Science, Osaka (Japan)

Description

Recent developments about the synthesis of metal nanoparticles (NPs) from organometallic complexes or metal ions in liquid by femtosecond laser pulse irradiation are introduced. The effects of solvent and ligands of organometallic complexes on the composition, size, and dispersibility of iron NPs are discussed. The success of producing size-regulated iron NPs or gold NPs without the aid of surfactants or capping agents but by utilizing the interface between organic liquid and water is described. (author)
