Search for Decays of B0 Mesons into Pairs of Leptons

The authors present a search for the decays B0 → e+e-, B0 → μ+μ-, and B0 e± μ#-+# in data collected at the Υ(4S) with the BABAR detector at the SLAC B Factory. using a data set of 54.4 fb-1, they find no evidence for a signal and asses the following preliminary upper limits at the 90% confidence level: Β(B0 → e+e-) < 3.3 x 10-7, Β(B0 → μ+μ-) < 2.0 x 10-7, and Β(B0 → e± μ#-+#) < 2.1 x 10-7
