Separation of technetium from fission products by extraction with trialkyl amines in tetrachloromethane

  • 1. Komenskeho Univ., Bratislava (Czechoslovakia). Prirodovedecka Fakulta

Description

Solutions of trioctylamines in tetrachloromethane are suitable for the extraction of pertechnetate ions from a nitrate medium without the use of solubilizers. For a 10% solution of tri-n-octylamine in tetrachloromethane, the selectivity of the separation of technetium from fission products was stated even after 0.2 MGy irradiation. The radiation and chemical instability of the extractant is practically manifested only by the formation of a limited quantity of hydrochloric acid. (author)
