BLUME - the Berlin air pollution monitoring network

This report compiles the BLUME air pollution chracteristics obtained in winter 1987/88. Figures and tables summarize and compare the measuring results obtained for sulfur dioxide, airborne particles, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and ozone. Air pollution in winter 1987/88 was not as critical as in the previous years. The 1987/88 mean sulfur dioxide concentrations were found to be the lowest values determined since BLUME measurements started in 1975, and the mean values obtained for airborne particles and for most of the remaining pollutants were lower than in the previous year. The causes of these relatively low pollutant concentrations are discussed. (orig./BBR)

Abstract (German)

Der Bericht enthaelt die Kenngroessen der Luftverschutzung, die mit dem Berliner Luftguete-Messwerk (BLUME) im Winter 1987/88 ermittelt wurden. Die Messergebnisse von Schwefeldioxid, Schwebstaub, Kohlenmonoxid, Stickoxiden und Ozon werden zusammengefasst in Abbildungen und Tabellen dargestellt und verglichen. Die Luftbelastung mit Schadstoffen im Winter 1987/88 war im Vergleich zu anderen Jahren deutlich reduziert. Der Mittelwert der Schwefeldioxid-Konzentration war der niedrigste seit Beginn der Messungen des Berliner Luftguete-Messnetzes im Jahre 1975. Auch bei Schwebstaub und den meisten anderen Schadstoffkomponenten wurden im Mittel niedrigere Werte gemessen als im Vorjahr. Die Ursachen fuer die relativ geringe Schadstoffbelastung werden diskutiert. (orig./BBR)
