Analysis of pattern recognition adaptation in PHT pressure control (540 MWe PHWR) through mathematical modeling

  • 1. Control Maintenance Unit, Tarapur Atomic Power Station 3 and 4, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Tarapur (India)

Description

The primary heat transport system (PHT) removes heat from the nuclear reactor to steam generator. The mathematical model for PHT of 540 MWe PHWR nuclear reactor was developed and validated against the operating nuclear plant. A modular approach for modeling was chosen, in order to develop the process models, wherein each component has been separately modeled and validated except steam generator, which is a lumped model. Pattern Recognition adaptation is included in the model for tuning PID controller by creating the disturbance in the model. This tuning method will adjust itself against any process gain variation during reactor start-us/external disturbances in order to maintain the PHT pressure within the tolerance band. (author)
