Description

By means of the MCNP(Monte Carlo for Neutron-Photon transport) code, the ratio of the collision kerma for PMMA tissue equivalent material and the air collision kerma in free air is calculated for various phantom depths for broad parallel photon beams of perpendicular incidence on the front face of a PMMA slab(30cmx30cmx15cm). The calculations are performed for monoenergetic photons in the energy range between 10keV and 3MeV. The results can be used as conversion coefficients in calibrating individual dosimeters in terms of dose equivalent quantities defined directly in the phantoms and also to calculate correction factors for the determination of the ICRU sphere quantities from measurements in phantoms other than in the ICRU sphere
