Simulating reactor dynamics at the Nuclear Department DCEME

  • 1. DCEME, HMS SULTAN, Nuclear Department, Nuclear Dept., Gosport (United Kingdom)

Description

The basic principles reactor simulator of the Nuclear Department DCEME is described, focusing on the generic reactor simulation code. The adaptation of this code to model the AP600 plant is described and some results for steam demand and reactivity addition transients presented. These are compared to the output of the industry standard two fluid thermal hydraulics code TRACPFQ running an independently generated model of the AP600. Modifications to the Nuclear Department code which provide close agreement with the TRACPFQ results are described. (author)
