Novel chromic dosimeters consisting of a chromic dye and scintillator

Description

There is currently a demand for personal radiation exposure monitors that are small, lightweight, flexible, battery-free, and provide a simple (visible) indication of exposure level. Since 2014, we have proposed novel dosimeters consisting of a chromic dye, scintillator particles, (and photo-acid generator), and polymeric resin. The chromic dosimeters are categorized into reversible and irreversible dosimeters based on their component: three-components composite system corresponding to the reversible (thermally unstable) chromic dosimeter, and four-components composite system corresponding to the irreversible (thermally stable) chromic dosimeter system. This article shows the mechanisms for these chromic dosimeters. The proposed new chromic dosimeters should be able to substitute for traditional wearable individual radiation dose monitoring devices.
