Sodium pertechnetate Tc-99m scanning of the abdomen. Diagnosis of an ileal duplication cyst

Description

A sodium pertechnetate /sup 99m/Tc scan of the abdomen gave positive results in a 5-year-old girl with recurrent abdominal pain and lower gastrointestinal bleeding. An ileal duplication cyst lined by gastric mucosa was found at operation. Abnormal localization of sodium pertechnetate /sup 99m/Tc can be observed in any condition with ectopic gastric mucosa
