Magnetic resonance in 62P(J=3/2) and 72P(J=3/2) states of 133Cs atom in a medium magnetic field
Description
The magnetic resonance between the Zeeman sublevels in the lower excited states 62P(J=3/2) and 72P(J=3/2) of 133Cs atom has been observed in a medium magnetic field (15 - 160 Gauss) by the use of optical double resonance technique. From the positions of the resonance signals, the hyperfine coupling constants A, B and the quadrupole moment Q have been evaluated. The constant A for 62P(3/2) is 50.45MHz, and that for 72P(3/2) is 16.55 MHz, and B for 62P(3/2) is - 0.60 MHz, and that for 72P(3/2) is -0.20 MHz. The value of Q is - 0.0045 x 10-24cm2. The effects of the collision with noble gas atoms (He, Ne and Ar) on the resonance signals between the Zeeman sublevels in 62P(3/2) state and in 72P(3/2) state were observed in medium magnetic fields. The cross sections of the collision broadening of the resonance signals have been evaluated from the variation of the line width. Discussion concerning the A, B and Q is presented. (Kato, T.)
