Method to manufacture fuel and breeder particles
Description
The spherical fuel or breeder particles for high temperature reactors are formed by dropping a solution of the heavy metal salt (U, Th or Pu compounds) out of a nozzle set in vibration, through a NH3-containing gas passage into an ammonia alkaline refining bath. According to the invention, one adds a hydrocarbon compound with functional aldehyde, ketone, ether, amino, imino, phenol, acid or acid amide groups to the solution, which forms stable adducts in aqueous alkali solution with uranium, thorium or plutonium and cannot be washed out with water. Die kugelfoermigen Brenn- oder Brutstoffteilchen fuer Hochtemperatur-Kernreaktoren bilden sich aus, indem eine Loesung des Schwermetallsalzes (U-, Th- oder Pu-Verbindung) aus einer in Vibration versetzten Duese durch eine NH3-haltige Gasstrecke in ein ammoniakalisches Faellbad tropft. Erfindungsgemaess setzt man der Loesung eine Kohlenwasserstoffverbindung mit funktionellen Aldehyd-, Keto-, Aether-, Amino-, Imino-, Phenol-, Saeure- oder Saeureamid-gruppen zu, die in waessrigen alkalischer Loesung mit Uran, Throium oder Plutonium stabile Addukte bildet und mit Wasser nicht auswaschbar ist.
