Electronic regulation of multiplicity of metal-metal bonds in binuclear thiolatobridge complexes of rhenium and molybdenum

Description

Thiolatobridge binuclear complexes of rhenium and molybdenum, in which metal-metal bond order equals formally 0, 1 and 2, were synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction method to study the dependence of the complex geometry and multiplicity of metal-metal bond on electronic surrounding of metal ions. It is shown that the distance between metal ions correlates mainly with metal-metal bond order depending on electron deficiency of the complexes, it depends but slightly on the number of thiolate bridges and the character of ligand surrounding of metal atoms
