A review of heavy-ion detection systems
Description
Detection systems for heavy-ion experiments are discussed. They include: (1) gas filled silicon detectors, (2) gas position sensitive detectors, (3) hybrid detectors in which position and δE are measured separately, and (4) time of flight systems. Advantages of multiple position determination are discussed. A super-conducting spectrometer with very large solid angle is also described briefly. (M.G.B.)
