Description
X-ray computed tomography (CT) is an indispensable diagnostic method. The CT, however, has a disadvantage of high dose exposure. Because a current sensitive preamplifier is a noisy circuit, a lot of X-rays are necessary to give meaningful electric current without the influence of the noise. In order to achieve a low dose exposure CT, we have developed a low noise current preamplifier VIEC. For the practical application of the VIEC, we carried out dynamic range measurements. Also dark current measurements as a function of detector-VIEC distance was performed. In addition, CT images obtained by VIEC and a conventional current preamplifier IPA-6 were compared in view of signal-to-noise ratio. (author)
