Coincidence counting system hardware design based on PCIE
- 1. Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Beijing (China)
Description
Aiming to detect nuclear signals rapidly, a digital coincidence system was developed. In this paper, hardware structure of the system, logic design and data transmission interface, were described. In this system, four 8 bit 1 GSPS and four 16 bit 125 MSPS data acquisition channels are adopted, FPGA logic is used to high speed data coincidence, data sampled by the signal acquisition channels is then transmitted via the PCIE interface with the DMA, and final signals are processed by the software of the host PC. Preliminary tests showed that the digital coincidence system can record nuclear events up to 30 k per second. It can satisfy the requirement for most of nuclear radiation measurement. (authors)
