Photoelectron diffraction: past, present and future

A brief perspective of the phenomenon and associated techniques of photoelectron diffraction is presented, including a discussion of some of the current issues and the main projections for future developments and exploitation. New results obtained using third-generation synchrotron radiation sources provide a basis for some plausible predictions
