The phases formation and crystallization in rapidly quenched Fe-Nd based alloys

  • 1. Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Samples of Fe 100-x Ndx alloys (12.334.0 and some amount of amorphous phase at 34.0<x<72.5 is detected. Lattice parameters of α-Nd correspond to supersaturated solid solution up to 6 at.%Fe, that exceeds the maximum solubility of Fe atoms in α-Nd at 650 deg C (4 at.%). At the same time some amount of Nd H2 phase (a=0.544-0.560 nm) at x≥72.5 is observed. The maximum amount of amorphous phase was found closely to stoichiometry Nd Fe2. The Curie temperature of amorphous phase is equal Tc=235 deg C. Maximum of coercivity of as-quenched alloys Hc=5 k O e corresponds to the mixture of amorphous and crystalline phases at x=48.8. The presence of ferromagnetic phase with Tc=220 deg C in the Nd-rich alloys (x≥72.5) is found by TMA. (author)
