Local radiolytic effectiveness of Auger electrons of iodine-125 in benzene-iodine solutions

  • 1. Ege Universitesi, Izmir (Turkey)

Description

High radiotoxicity of iodine-125 has been mainly attributed to the local radiolytic effects of Auger electrons on biological systems. In the present study, experimental and theoretical results are compared. The agreement between the experimental and theoretical results explains that the energy absorption of iodine aggregates has an important role in the radiolytic effectiveness of Auger electrons and iodine-125 in benzene-iodine solutions.
