Description
The experimental results obtained from Li induced transfer reactions at energies much higher than the Coulomb barrier have been reviewed to find out to which extent these reactions can be considered today as spectroscopic tool. Tables containing information and references on transfer and Li elastic scattering experiments published before April 1971 are given. Because of the complexity of the reaction mechanism, an energy resolution better than the intrinsic width of the separation of the levels appears as an essential, but not necessarily sufficient condition, to extract unambiguous spectroscopic information. This condition being satisfied, important results have been obtained from two, three and four nucleon transfer reactions. A short account of the efforts undertaken so far to elucidate the reaction mechanism using different simplified models is given. The reaction cross sections decrease so rapidly when A increases that experiments beyond a ∼ 40 seem for the moment hardly possible. However this survey indicates that for lighter nuclei the field of investigation open up by the use of Li projectiles remains still largely unexplored. (author)
Abstract (French)
Nous avons dresse un bilan des resultats experimentaux obtenus a partir des reactions de transfert induites par des ions Li a des energies ELi >> Ecoul pour essayer de mettre en evidence les possibilites de ces reactions en tant que sondes spectroscopiques. Nous avons rassemble dans plusieurs tableaux les references et certaines informations relatives aux experiences de reactions de transfert et de diffusion elastique publiees avant avril 1971. A cause de la complexite du mecanisme de reaction, la condition essentielle, mais pas necessairement suffisante, pour pouvoir extraire des informations spectroscopiques sures, est que la resolution en energie soit meilleure que la largeur propre ou la distance des niveaux excites. Cette condition etant satisfaite, des resultats tres interessants ont pu etre obtenus a partir de reactions de transfert de deux, trois et quatre nucleons. Nous presentons une description schematique des tentatives entreprises jusqu'a maintenant pour mieux comprendre le mecanisme de reaction a l'aide de modeles simples. Les sections efficaces de reaction diminuent avec une telle rapidite, lorsque A augmente, que les experiences sur des noyaux de masse A≥40 semblent pour l'instant pratiquement impossibles a realiser. Toutefois, il apparait que, pour des noyaux plus legers, les possibilites d'etude ouvertes par l'utilisation d'ions Li comme projectiles restent encore largement inexplorees. (auteur)Files
