Description
Visual and metallographic examinations and radiographic controls carried out at Chinon (France) on the tubes removed from steam generators have allowed: - to complete and improve the results obtained from Eddy current testing, - to show that the crack observed, mainly at the level of expanded zones, corresponds to a corrosion phenomena in primary medium under high tensile stresses resulting from the rolling operation. Except two cases characterized by abnormal expanding operations, the direction of cracks is longitudinal; they are intergranular and concern the tubes made of alloy 600 presenting structures sensitive to this type of corrosion
Abstract (French)
Les examens visuels et metallographiques et les controles radiographiques effectues a Chinon sur les tubes extraits des generateurs de vapeur ont permis: - de completer et de preciser les resultats des controles par courants de Foucault, - de montrer que la fissuration observee, principalement au niveau des zones de transition de dudgeonnage, correspond a un phenomene de corrosion en milieu primaire en presence des contraintes de tension elevees provenant de l'operation de dudgeonnage. A l'exception de deux cas particuliers caracterises par des operations de dudgeonnage anormales, la direction des fissurations est longitudinale; elles sont de parcours intergranulaire et affectent des tubes d'Alliage 600 presentant des structures sensibles a ce type de corrosionAdditional details
