Description

LaCrO3 and LaCoO3 are believed to be p-type small-polaron conductors. The carrier concentration in these materials is determined from Heikes' Formula. As Co is substituted for Cr, the carrier concentration increases. For LaCoO3, approximately 50% of the Co ions act as carriers. This is attributed to the self compensation of Co3+ into Co2+ and Co4+.
