Description
We present new infrared photometry for the red giant stars in the globular cluster M10. This is used to derive its reddening and distance modulus as well as to locate the RGB in the theoretical HR diagram. Our proposed values for E(B-V) and (m-M)0 are 0.17 ± 0.05 and 14.0 ± 0.2, respectively. These were obtained using two different methods, based on multicolour photometry, which show very good consistency. The horizontal branch luminosity level is also discussed, as we find it significantly brighter than expected from recent calibrations. As regard the RGB, it shows the expected position for a cluster with intermediate metallicity when compared with either other well known clusters or some theoretical models
