Self-assembly of polydiacetylene nanowires in ultra-thin films
Description
In this paper, we report on the optical properties of recently prepared symmetrical and asymmetrical polycarbazolyldiacetylenes (PCDA) carrying long alkyl or acyl substituents at the 3,6 positions of the carbazolyl groups. Ultra-thin polymeric films have been prepared on different substrates by spin coating of polymers or monomers solutions. Only the relevant results on the electronic absorption and fluorescence studies in solutions or as films are here reported. Evidence is given of the role played by the molecular and supramolecular ordered structures in the emission properties. The films organizations studied by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) technique reveal different surface morphologies for the different polymers
