ρ-mass modification in dense medium some recent studies in finite nucleus

  • 1. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, 1/AF, Bidhannagar, Calcutta 700 064 (India)

Description

The modification of the ρ-meson mass inside a finite nucleus will be discussed from an effective model of nuclear matter. Recent experiments have shown that there is a substantial decrease in the ρ-meson mass inside the He3 nucleus. Some authors have claimed that this is a signature of the partial restoration of chiral symmetry. I will discuss that even in the absence of chiral symmetry effective mean field nuclear matter models can explain these findings
